Prohibited Items
What cannot be listed, traded, promoted, or exchanged on TradeUpGames.
TradeUpGames is built for gamers to trade games, consoles, accessories, retro classics, collectibles, and gaming gear directly with each other. To keep the platform safe, trusted, and focused, certain items are not allowed.
Items Not Allowed on TradeUpGames
1. Stolen or Unauthorized Items
Members may not list or trade:
- ✕Stolen games
- ✕Stolen consoles
- ✕Stolen accessories
- ✕Borrowed items
- ✕Rented items
- ✕Items taken from another person without permission
- ✕Items connected to fraud or theft
- ✕Items the member does not legally own
If TradeUpGames believes an item may be stolen or unauthorized, the listing may be removed and the account may be restricted or banned.
2. Fake, Counterfeit, or Misrepresented Items
Members may not list fake items as real.

- ✕Fake accessories
- ✕Fake controllers
- ✕Fake memory cards
- ✕Fake console parts
- ✕Fake collector's editions
- ✕Fake graded items
- ✕Fake sealed items
- ✕Reproduction cartridges listed as authentic
- ✕Reprinted manuals or boxes listed as original
RetroZone members must clearly disclose reproduction, replacement, reprinted, refurbished, repaired, modded, or non-original items.
3. Pirated Games or Illegal Copies
TradeUpGames does not allow pirated, illegal, or unauthorized copies of games.
- ✕Burned discs
- ✕Pirated game discs
- ✕Illegal downloads
- ✕ROM collections sold as official games
- ✕Hacked game libraries
- ✕Bootleg cartridges
- ✕Flash carts loaded with copyrighted games
- ✕Modded devices sold with unauthorized games
- ✕Download links to illegal files
4. Digital Accounts, Passwords, and Login Access
TradeUpGames is built for physical game and gear trading. Digital account trading is not allowed.

- ✕Streaming accounts
- ✕Passwords
- ✕Login credentials
- ✕Digital libraries
- ✕Game-sharing access
- ✕Online profile access
- ✕Cloud save accounts
- ✕Skins/accounts
- ✕Battle passes tied to accounts
- ✕Subscription accounts
- ✕Hacked accounts
Never share passwords or login details with another member.
5. Gift Cards, Digital Codes, and Payment-Based Items
Unless TradeUpGames creates a specific approved program later, these are not allowed:
- ✕Gift cards
- ✕Digital game codes
- ✕Download codes
- ✕Subscription codes
- ✕Wallet credits
- ✕Prepaid cards
- ✕Payment app transfers
- ✕Crypto payments
- ✕Banking information
- ✕Cash-for-trade pressure
- ✕Off-platform payment links
This rule helps reduce scams and keeps TradeUpGames focused on physical trades.
6. Broken Items Listed as Working
Members may trade damaged or non-working items only if the condition is clearly disclosed.

- ✕Hiding disc-read problems

- ✕Hiding dead cartridge batteries
- ✕Hiding missing cables

- “Not tested”
- “Controller has drift”
- “Console powers on but does not read discs”
- “Save battery may be dead”
- “Disc has scratches”

- “Damaged but working”
7. Unsafe, Illegal, or Non-Gaming Items
TradeUpGames is a gaming trade platform. Do not list unrelated or unsafe items.

- ✕Alcohol
- ✕Tobacco or vape products
- ✕Adult content
- ✕Hazardous materials
- ✕Illegal items
- ✕Counterfeit merchandise
- ✕Personal documents
- ✕Financial information
- ✕Non-gaming household items
- ✕Random unrelated merchandise
- ✕Anything that violates law or platform policy
8. Harassing, Offensive, or Abusive Content
Listings, profiles, usernames, messages, images, and descriptions may not include:

- ✕Bullying
- ✕Sexual content
- ✕Doxxing
- ✕Private personal information
- ✕Violent threats
- ✕Scam language
- ✕Spam
- ✕Impersonation
- ✕Misleading claims

RetroZone Special Rules
RetroZone items require extra honesty because older games and systems may have age, condition, authenticity, or compatibility issues. RetroZone members must disclose:
- Reproduction cartridges
- Replacement labels
- Replacement shells
- Reprinted boxes
- Reprinted manuals
- Refurbished consoles
- Modded consoles
- Non-working systems
- Dead save batteries
- Region-locked games
- Disc resurfacing
- Missing manuals
- Missing boxes
- Missing cables
- Yellowing
- Repair history
- Parts-only condition
What Happens If You Break These Rules?
TradeUpGames may take action, including:
- →Removing the listing
- →Warning the member
- →Restricting listing access
- →Restricting trade offers
- →Requiring verification
- →Suspending the account
- →Removing RetroZone access
- →Removing school or campus access
- →Permanently banning the account
- →Blocking related accounts
- →Referring serious issues to proper authorities when necessary
Member Reminder
Before listing anything, ask:
- Do I legally own this item?
- Is the condition accurate?
- Did I upload real photos?
- Did I disclose damage?
- Did I disclose missing parts?
- Is this a physical gaming item?
- Would another gamer feel misled by this listing?
If the answer is unclear, do not list it until the details are accurate.
Final Rule
If it is fake, stolen, unsafe, illegal, misleading, or not gaming-related — do not list it.
